Taking your terrier puppy to a veterinarian will help in determining their weaknesses and possible ailments. They will recommend solutions like giving them vaccinations to avoid further health problems.

The 5-way vaccination immunize your terrier puppy such diseases like influenza, hepatitis, parvo virus (which is common among dogs), and distemper. Usually this is given to puppies ages six weeks and above. The 7-way vaccine, on the other hand, protects your terrier puppy from the same diseases as mentioned and leptospirosis. Compared to 5-way, the 7-way can protect your pet even better. Among the most recommended by vets are Duramune, Vanguard Plus, and Canine Spectra.

Meanwhile, you can also administer vaccinations of your terrier puppy at home I you choose to if you do not want to spend too much for a vet. It will also be easy on your dog because they will feel comfortable than being in the clinic.

Having puppy vaccinations is very easy once you get used to it although you may feel a little uncomfortable the first time. Subcutaneous vaccination is done ‘under the skin’. The needle of the syringe is injected in the loose skin on the shoulder area of the dog where there is less sensitivity, while lifting it with your fingers. Just be careful not to touch the blood vessel.

Intramuscular vaccination is given through injection in the muscle. However, it is advisable that this be done by a professional. Meanwhile, Intranasal vaccination is given through the dog’s nasal passage with the use of a dropper instead of injecting it.

Whichever type of puppy vaccinations you choose it, it is important that your pet gets the proper caring they need so you can spend longer time together.
